Statement of Governing Principles

The Moline Soccer Club was founded in 1978 to provide a recreational soccer program for the area's youth. The following are the basic principles around which the Moline Soccer Club was organized an upon which its activities are based. They constitute the philosophy that guides the members of the Board and other members in their associations with the Club and its programs.

1. To stimulate the awareness of, and participation in, soccer in the Quad Cities.
2. To provide a quality amateur sports activity for youth in the community, with special emphasis on sportsmanship and fair play.
3. To emphasize the value of participation, rather than winning--although the Club recognizes that, in the proper perspective, winning enhances the enjoyment of soccer.
4. To provide a sports activity in which all children--regardless of age, sex, or athletic ability--are welcome.
5. To stress that certain non-physical disciplines--such as commitment, cooperation, willingness to learn and desire to interrelate with others as a member of a team--are important characteristics of a well-rounded soccer player.
6. To attempt to improve the skills of participants, recognizing that their enjoyment of soccer will increase accordingly.
7. To provide a format for both parental and familial involvement with children
8. To provide enjoyable and satisfying activity without unreasonable expense to participants.
9. To gain recognition of soccer as a regular sporting activity in area schools.
10. To provide a forum for exchanging cultural values internationally. To this end, the Club will continue seeking opportunities for interfacing with members of clubs from other communities, countries, and cultures.
